What I'm Building Toward

A forward-looking account of where the work is headed — and why.

The Long View

I am a student at the University of Texas at Austin studying Government, and I intend to pursue a career in law. But those are credentials, not a purpose. The purpose is this: to develop the knowledge, judgment, and institutional experience necessary to contribute meaningfully to the constitutional, democratic, and civic structures that shape public life.

My interest is not in any single issue or office. It is in the craft of governance itself — the careful work of building and maintaining institutions that are accountable, representative, and durable. That interest has been shaped by student government, by precinct work, by legislative drafting, and by the study of constitutional law and political theory.

I am still early in that development. There is a great deal left to learn — in the classroom, in practice, and in the communities I hope to serve. What I can say with confidence is that I am committed to doing that work seriously, and to bringing the same standards of accountability and institutional integrity to whatever role I occupy next.

Areas of Focus

Law

Pursuing a legal education as the foundation for a career in constitutional law, public interest litigation, or government service — understanding that law is the architecture of democratic life.

Constitutional Government

A deep commitment to constitutional principles — separation of powers, rule of law, individual rights, and the institutional structures that protect democratic governance from the arbitrary exercise of power.

Public Policy

Developing expertise in the policy process — how legislation is drafted, debated, implemented, and evaluated — as preparation for roles in government, advocacy, or public administration.

Civic Leadership

Continuing to build the skills and relationships of democratic leadership — in precincts, communities, and institutions — because civic infrastructure requires people willing to maintain it.

Public Service

A long-term commitment to careers and roles oriented toward the public good — whether in elected office, the judiciary, public administration, or civic organizations.
